The Pediatric AML Collaborative

Project Stella at Fred Hutch showed what can happen when families, foundations and researchers come together around a shared mission.

Collaboration can take many forms. The Pediatric AML Collaborative, hosted by Children’s Cancer Research Fund provides a way for participating families and foundations to come together to support promising pediatric AML research across institutions, rather than limiting consideration to a single researcher or research center.

The Collaborative brings people and resources together around promising pediatric AML research at Fred Hutch and other institutions, helping promising science move forward wherever it is taking place.

Our goal is simple: connect people and resources around promising pediatric AML research and help move that science toward better treatments for children.

How The Pediatric AML Collaborative

CCRF provides the infrastructure.
Financial stewardship, grantmaking, scientific peer review and administrative support are provided through an established national childhood cancer organization.

Science guides the research.
A multi-institution Scientific Advisory Panel helps evaluate research priorities and promising opportunities.

Families have a voice.
A Family Advocate Council brings family perspectives into the Collaborative.

Partners retain their identity.
Foundations and other organizations can participate without giving up their individual identity or mission.

Research is not limited to one institution.
Promising pediatric AML research can be considered wherever it is taking place.

Together, promising discoveries can move farther—and faster.

Four Pillars of Support from Children’s Cancer Research Fund

Why CCRF Provides a Strong Foundation

NATIONAL REACH:  Funds childhood cancer research across institutions—not just at one medical center. CCRF reports more than 165 research grants nationwide over the past decade.

PROVEN RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE:  Established grantmaking, scientific peer review, financial stewardship and administrative support are already in place. CCRF's grant process uses scientific peer reviewers and its Research Advisory Committee to evaluate highly rated proposals.

A TRACK RECORD IN PEDIATRIC AML:  Working with families, foundations and donors, Children's Cancer Research Fund helped raise more than $1.3 million to advance Dr. Soheil Meshinchi's research and help bring the FOLR1 CAR T-cell therapy into clinical testing.

BUILT FOR COLLABORATION:  The Pediatric AML Collaborative is designed to bring families, foundations, clinicians and researchers together while preserving each partner's identity. Scientific priorities are guided by a multi-institution Scientific Advisory Panel, with family perspectives represented through a Family Advocate Council.  The Collaborative is not limited to a single research center, allowing promising research to be identified and supported across institutions.

CCRF provides the infrastructure. Researchers provide the science. Families and foundations bring resources, perspective and urgency to help move promising research forward.
